On Sunday the 18th Oct we had a very successful ‘Scotton Dig Day’. The activities included digging a trench, a geophysical survey, dowsing ,metal detecting and a heritage walk through the village. Also, was a large exhibition in the village hall and we chatted to locals throughout the day.
In excess of a hundred people and families enjoyed participating in the day.
Many new contacts were made and evidence found will be analysed and published at a later date. For example our dowsing team may have found the line of the tunnel between ‘Percy House’ and ‘Scotton Old Hall’.
We must thank Mr Tim Spink for access to his land and his brother Terence for the use of his tractor and trailer to take all the equipment from the village hall to the dig site and back again at the end of the day.
On the day I must also thank Mr Malcolm Hand for access to his orchard, it was greatly appreciated!
