On Thursday 1st October Dave Hunt and Mike Baxter arranged a visit to the Morley Archive Centre in order to view, examine and photograph the ‘finds’ uncovered by the West Yorkshire Archaeology Services in 2014 in the Scotton area. (They had excavated a number of trenches ahead of the Yorkshire Water Sewerage Project).
Although we had the full report no photographs had been taken of the ‘finds’ discovered. Over the course of the morning we photographed roman pottery sherds, flint fragments, quern stone fragments and a medieval pottery sherd.
We will exhibit extracts from the report and the photographic evidence at the ‘Scotton Dig Day’ exhibition on Sunday the 18th October.
